Lab 1 info, Texas

TEXAS

I didn’t know what to expect from this class but i can definitely say not this! Its turning out to be a lot cooler then i expected, and we are using applications i’ve never used before. I am also learning how to blog which is something i’ve wondered about but never got into for a while now. I am also curious to see how the rest of this class turns out as well as this project when it’s finished.

Lab 1 Info

I didn’t find it hard finding the web site but I did have trouble finding information inside the site. It gave my feature population estimates and years between 2000 and 2010, but I didn’t see any historical census information beyond that. I believe this site would be good for searching other areas such as state unemployment or ethnic breakdown. I also noticed many links to the site which was helpful because from there I stumbled across some very useful data! So on a scale of one to ten I would label this site a 6 because it looks distinctive but kind of complicated to get for first time users, but most importantly it pointed me in the right direction.

I found Google so much easier and more efficient to use. It took me right where I needed to go and also gave me many more alternatives then yahoo offered. All I had to do was type in keyword searches and the results were amazing. If I had to rate Google compared to yahoo I would give it a nine, because it’s very user friendly to first time users as a search engine. It also took me inside likes instead of just sending me to just the home page of the site. I was very impressed by Google and its helpful nature in helping me find the date I needed easier and more covenant.
